Georgia Child Welfare New Worker Training

With an influx of more than 1,500 new child welfare case managers each year, the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Family and Children’s Services needed a way to provide fast, efficient, and high-quality new worker training in multiple regions simultaneously throughout the state. So Georgia chose CSF to manage its new worker training process to ensure that (MT shat did we ensure ?)
CSF assembled a training faculty of seasoned child welfare practitioners who also had excellent platform training skills - the combination of a strong adult learning approach and real-life experience with delivering social services in Georgia gave our trainers credibility in the classroom, a factor crucial to effective new worker development. We also used multiple tools and technologies such as participant activities, digital video, and Power Point presentations to turn the classroom into a multi-media learning experience, providing information and learning opportunities in ways that support various adult learning styles.
During each year of the contract, CSF trained more than 1,500 new case managers in four training modules: Foundations of Child Welfare (10 days), Foster Care Services (8 days), Child Protective Services (5 days), and Adoption Services (5 days). As an adjunct to this contract, CSF also developed and delivered three advanced-skills training events for more experienced social workers and supervisors: Effective Interviewing Skills; Addressing Client and Child Grief and Loss; and Advanced Clinical Issues.
